Electronic Merchant Systems, one of the leading providers of payment processing services, is proud to have successfully concluded our first annual “Swipe Out Cancer” fundraiser. All employee donations that were raised in the month of October – along with a company matching amount – are being donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation – a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and finding a cure for breast cancer.

Since our beginning in 1988, we have endeavored to be benevolent in all our actions, giving back to important causes. We strive to creatively collaborate with nonprofit organizations to foster community, charitable partners, and nourish youth development. We have a great team of employees who take pride in this selfless task knowing that in our line of business, the way we treat others will dictate our results.

October has been tagged Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) which is an annual international health campaign organized by top breast cancer charities every October to increase both the awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and cure. The campaign also provides information and support to those affected by the disease.

With a goal to promote mammography as the most effective strategy to fight against breast cancer, the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicked off, and since 1985 thousands of organizations throughout the world take part in it to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education, and research. A huge percentage of women around the world have benefited from this program as it has also raised millions of dollars in funding for research worldwide. In 1993 Evelyn Lauder, founder of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation established the pink ribbon as its symbol which has now been adopted by the BCAM, as its symbol worldwide.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer. Having funded over 10,876,960 hours of research since 1993 is currently the highest rated breast cancer organization in the U.S. with an A+ rating from Charity Watch. BCRF provides critical funding for cancer research worldwide to fuel advances in tumor biology, metastasis, genetics, prevention, treatment, and survivorship.
